Brief description of the livelihood:

San Antonio Bay MPA Fisherfolk Association have members who are active bantay dagat volunteers whereas others have long been involved in reforestation of mangrove areas. Conservation activities in the past were mostly project-driven as the officers and members themselves have limited means to support even their families. A viable BDFE will enable the association to encourage members to continue protecting the mangroves since they are benefitting from it. On long term, the business model for mangrove crab fattening could be replicated with other members. It could also be complemented with other economic activities in the mangroves. As the fisherfolk use the mangrove for their business, they will ensure that it is well cared for.
