Brief description of the livelihood:

MAPBAHIELA operates from Malatgao mangroves which is facing Lolo Bay MPA. Some of its active members are bantay dagat/baybay volunteers engaged in patrolling the MPA. Three are fish wardens. Mangrove forest protection is the association’s top priority because the members’ livelihood depends on it. The association’s experience in mangrove conservation can be developed into a sustainable model by strengthening leadership and governance as well as developing entrepreneurial capacity. Its partnership with Rotary Club has been a strong support for its conservation activities. Its partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development [DSWD] for the implementation of Sustainable Livelihood Program [SLP] led to the establishment of a baklad which provides employment to its members who are 4P’s beneficiaries.
