The SMARTSeas PH works with government agencies, civil society organizations, local government units, private sector, and communities to reduce and arrest reduce and arrest the rapid degradation of marine and coastal habitats through strengthening of marine protected areas and establishment of MPA networks.
It is a DENR-led initiative supported by United Nations Development Programme, and funded by Global Environment Facility. The project aims to include more marine key biodiversity areas for conservation and sustainable coastal resource management.
